Can you tell we like spending our vacations around water?
Today's highlights:
- The airport shuttle driver arriving promptly at 2:30 a.m. for our 6 a.m. flight to Seattle. Brad got two hours of sleep and Karen got no sleep ... a testament to our longtanding inability to pack before the very last minute.
- Pike Street Market in Seattle, where we got a week's worth of fresh fruits and veggies and gourmet cheese, plus dungeness crab, halibut and Copper River salmon.
- Anacortes, where we caught the ferry for Orcas.
- Walking into our cabin in Deer Harbor and realizing that our back window and patio perfectly frame the setting sun, with other islands dotting the view.
- Our view: gentle waters dotted with islands, ringed by mountains, with the setting sun splashing bright colors across high clouds, providing ever-changing color palattes in the sky.
- 2008 Ampelos Fiddestix Vineyard pinot, accompanied by Chateau D'avergnon blue cheese.
- Grilling the perfect filet of salmon and garlic spears (our first experience with them.
Karen's custom is to start each vacation with a nice tea. This one's while waiting for the ferry with Mt. Baker in the background.
