Montenegro

When we first started planning this trip, we knew it would be cool to visit Montenegro, one of the six former republics of the former Yugoslavia, but we weren't exactly sure why.

Now we know. Because it's stunningly beautiful.

It was about a two-hour drive to Kotar from Dubrovnik. For much of the drive, you're right on the Adriatic coast, with no guardrails. And during the return trip on a back road, it was two-way traffic on a one-lane road, with sunbathers just a few feet away.

It was hard to pick our phavorite fotos from the day; as a result, there are a few that will have to remain on our camera chip, lest we bore readers with repetitive pictures.

A serene scene in Morinj.

The town of Perast.

 That's us.

That's us again. This time at Our Lady of the Rocks chapel on a tiny island in the fjord.

That's Our Lady of the Rocks.

That's Perast again, taken from the boat ride to the chapel.

These next shots are Kotor.

This is the look of satisfaction after a great day.

And this is the look of relaxation following a great day. This is at Konoba Catovica Mlini, a wonderful seafood restaurant in Morinj that's surrounded by ponds, streams, waterfalls and bubbling springs.
